In 1982, there was no rental company in Europe that focused exclusively on refrigerated trailers and had all the necessary knowledge in-house. It seemed like a gap in the market and so Refrigerated Trailer Rentals Holland BV (RTR) was founded. The management had extensive experience in the logistics sector and got off to a good start with 25 refrigerated trailers. The shares of this separate BV were divided among ITR and one of the directors. Until 1985, RTR was located on Stadionweg in Rotterdam. The company wanted to move to a more accessible location and moved to its current building at Zuideinde in Barendrecht. A new business park was built here that offered plenty of space. The fact that the vegetable auction was also located 'around the corner' was a nice advantage. In 1988, RTR expanded with a Belgian branch in the port area in Antwerp. This second rental location is located near the highway and directly at the port.
